About LND UTD:

We are a purpose driven UK based esports organisation that unites gaming with social issues. We develop grassroots esports talent and hold events to address social issues working with celebrities, the Mayor of London, sports and esports orgs and charities.

For this NFT “drop” we’re partnering and supporting the Rio Ferdinand Foundation.

What is an NFT Collection:

NFTs are non-fungible tokens. They act as a non-duplicable digital certificate of ownership for any assigned digital asset. Basically, it is a smart contract that is put together using bits of open source code, which anyone can find from platforms like GitHub, and used to secure that digital item. Once the code is written, it is then minted, or permanently published, into a token (most commonly a token called an ERC 721) on a blockchain, like Ethereum.

Some popular forms of NFTs include jpegs, gifs, videos and, of course, tweets. But really any digital asset that the creator wants to make unique can become an NFT, like articles or event tickets.

Once the NFT is purchased, the owner has the digital rights to resell, distribute or license the digital asset as they please. The only caveat is that the creator can program in limitations in the NFT’s code for how it gets used, such as the asset cannot show up on a specific platform, like a TV network.

In the case of the first tweet, it will still exist for on Twitter for other users to see, but only the sole owner gets the “bragging rights” of owning the digital asset.

ABOUT SPORTS TOURS INTERNATIONAL

These days Sports Tours International are well-known as the number one choice for travelling athletes, and sporting enthusiasts, in Europe. We are the go to for anyone who wants to take part in events across the world. As International Travel Partner of the 6 World Marathon Majors, and VIP tour operator of the 3 Grand Tours and 5 Monuments of Cycling, we cover a wide range of events. Leisure cyclists, and those looking for a more leisurely adventure holiday, are catered for by our Freewheel Holidays and Whereabouts brands. Through our partnership with the world’s number 1 training resort, Club La Santa in Lanzarote, those looking for a training or active holiday are also very well looked after.

If you were wondering where it all started, here is our story so far……………..

The story of Sports Tours International is a tale of visionaries. They paved the way for the rest of us, so now we can enjoy a wealth of opportunity in sports travel, warm weather training, leisure and competitive cycling, and sports tourism in general.

Sports Tours International founder, and Irishman, Vince Regan started organising his first trips to international marathons back in the 1970s. He was an ex-international marathon runner himself, and could see the value in people travelling to far off places to participate in marathons. He timed it right as the running craze was starting to take hold.

When Vince started his travel business, back in 1973, one of his first trips was to the iconic New York Marathon. Vince really pioneered the concept of the International Travel Partner for events such as this. Being a well known figure within the running community; Vince also became involved in the creation of the London Marathon and took responsibility for managing the London Marathon international runner programme. This is an honour Sports Tours International still holds to this day.

CLUB LA SANTA

Now offering 80 different sports, with over 40 expert instructors (the Green Team) to help you get the best out of your holiday, and activities for everyone whether they are 4 or 74, Club La Santa has built its stellar reputation, and become the world’s No. 1 sports and active holiday resort, attracting amateurs, enthusiasts and professionals alike.

These days more than 12.000 people travel to Club La Santa every year with Sports Tours International, and to this day, Sports Tours International is the exclusive UK and Ireland Agent for Club La Santa, Lanzarote, the world famous sports holiday resort.

The return to travel

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the business as with all travel businesses, and, in order to prepare for the return of travel this Autumn, we are looking to create a campaign to support building the business back better and attracting new audiences and experiences.

Don’t think, do

We want to appeal to those who have a pent-up desire for travel and for challenge, our customers have always strived for this and after a tough 18 months of uncertainty during lockdown and with the travel and mass participation sectors starting to return we want to ensure that we are front of mind for both our customers and potential customers who are ready to begin their next active lifestyle experience.

So essentially, we want to build on the brand equity that we currently have, communicate that our customer service and product offering is still best in class but include fresh thinking to prepare us for the future in attracting new audiences to our events.

OMB Stories: Nirpal Bansel

IMG_0103 OMB Photo.jpg

I was introduced to OMB by a T-shirt. Dave Holcroft’s to be precise (@PaperjamCreate). OMB! emblazoned across his chest. Curiosity go the better of me, I had to ask what it meant. I guess the explanation followed thereafter, for the next 4 years.

July 2018. My first entry for #MovieQuoteAds. I couldn’t’ resist a quote from my favourite film franchise. That’s where my OMB journey started. I remember being a Twitter newbie and not knowing how to tweet my entry. Luckily, Nick was there to help. After that, wins for Young Lions and O2 really boosted my own self-esteem.

I gave up on the creative industry, way back in 2004. After 10 years of struggling in agencies and as a freelancer,  I re-qualified to become a primary teacher. I wanted to give something back, to a worthy cause – helping the next generation to proser. This path in education also led me to lecturing at university and mentoring students.

I still feel I have unfinished business with the creative industry. OMB has rejuvenated this belief and given me hope a Creative Director will appreciate my conceptualising and portfolio. In an industry renowned for its cut-throat, ruthless image OMB has been the shining light in providing a non-judgemental platform for me to share my concepts, without the fear of being ridiculed and build self-confidence. More importantly, it’s great fun and a great way to sharpen your creative thinking. It’s helped my design skills too – and let me tell you I’m no art director or designer – but my ideas come to life on my phone.

In fact, the OMBLEs have welcomed me with open arms, always supportive, encouraging and appreciating my concepts. OMB has a family feel, even with in access of 34k followers, there is no other online community like it. I’m honoured to be part of this creative community, a proud OMBLE and OMBASSADOR, where diversity and inclusion are celebrated daily, on a global scale, from people of all walks of life and careers. That’s what makes OMB so unique and inspiring, equality is the key.

The last 16 months were exceptionally tough, school closures meant my supply work dried up. I focussed my energy on OMB, which helped me fine-tune my creativity – giving yourself a minute really tests your ability. I enjoyed this challenge and also kept active networking through the OMB platform on LinkedIn, which I helped to expand. This time was valuable to develop concepts and improve my portfolio.

IMG_1539 Maryland Cookies.jpg

More importantly, I helped other OMBLEs, sometimes just to chat and check they were fine. with to chat and catch up. I was hoping I would make a difference, or just give them opportunity to air their circumstances. I know Lockdown really affected me, so this release also helped my own mental well-being and welfare. It also gave me opportunity to mentor, and I was delighted to help others achieve their dreams and start careers in the creative industry.

2021 has been highlight year so far. My concept initially created for an OMB brief was shortlisted as a finalist at this year’s The Drum Chip Shop Awards. My kit-Kat ad, I create during the first lockdown, highlighting the plight of home-school learning. I didn’t pick up a Vinegar or a Chip Shop Award itself, but I felt proud going up against multi-national agencies and ad schools. It was a great feeling just to be nominated, this felt like a win for me.

IMG_2151 - Kitkat Ad.jpg

So that’s my story. A huge thank you to Nick and the OMBLE community in believing in me. You strive each other on every day – proving creativity has no boundaries to your talent. Looking forward to seeing you all again at the next OMB Live.

Thanks for reading.

OMB Stories: Sarah Glover-Smith

Hello! I’m Sarah, a creative from Manchester. I’ve been making stuff since I could walk but only recently decided to pursue a career in advertising.

sarah pic.jpg

I think when you’re starting your career, especially in such a competitive industry that’s infamous for being a little cutthroat, it can feel pretty daunting- especially if you’re a sensitive soul like me. I was recommended One Minute Briefs by a couple of creatives in the industry as a way to build up my portfolio, and when I started, I could never have imagined how much good would come out of it. One Minute Briefs is the reason I am now officially (!!) working in the industry as an art director after just 5 months of building up my portfolio.

I started entering OMB back in December 2020 when I was in a really bad place with my mental health, and I doubted that I had the talent and experience to get into the industry, but I was still determined to give it a shot. At first, I found it pretty nerve wracking being amongst so many talented and experienced creatives. But, if you’re just starting out, it’s probably the best place you could possibly be. There’s no ego, no hierarchy, and it’s just a really safe space to try different things out, fail sometimes, and come back better the next day!

Needless to say, after about a week of entering OMB I was hooked. And, after a couple of weeks I started to realise I might actually be better at this than I thought I was. With every entry I got a little more confident, my ideas came more easily, and I was happier with the ads I was making. I think the range of briefs is so great for building up your creativity as you’re really kept on your toes and you’re constantly flooding your brain with amazing creative ideas from other Ombles. I’ve also had loads of career advice, book crits and words of encouragement whenever I’ve doubted myself or felt like giving up. Over the months I’ve been able to build up my portfolio (mostly just from my entries to OMB) and land my dream job in the creative industry this week!

One Minute Briefs has been absolutely life changing for me, not just for my career, but my mental health. Whether I’ve been struggling with job applications, or just with everything that’s going on in the world right now, One Minute Briefs has been there. It’s given me a creative outlet, something to focus on, and also just a little positive corner of the internet where you’re guaranteed support and kindness no matter who you are or how much experience you have.

I think the biggest thing I’ve learned from OMB is that you don’t need a job title or accreditation to tell you you’re  “a creative”. If you’re out there making things every day, then you’re as much of a creative as anyone else. And, if you’re looking to get into the industry, or just wanting to start doing One Minute Briefs, don’t wait until you feel ready to start (because you probably never will) and just ask yourself, “what’s the best that could happen?”

One Minute Brief of the Day: Create posters to communicate the problems late payments cause to SMEs & how @Incomeing_ can help them get paid on time. #SolveLatePayments

Today we’ve got a brilliant brief with our Manchester-based neighbours Incomeing. As an SME (Small/Medium Enterprise) ourselves, we know that chasing late payments can be time-consuming, stressful and affect cash-flow which can make it difficult to grow. So, we will be using the Incomeing app ourselves from now on to make the process easier & more productive.

One of the most difficult parts of running a small business has been getting paid. Sometimes I’ll spend a day of my time emailing people to chase late payments. This is a cost in itself in terms of growth monetarily and in general as I could be spending that time improving the community or creating new partnerships. Companies often tell you that you need a PO number or to change the address on your invoice months after you’ve invoiced them and do what they can to delay payment as much as possible. This is unfair and harmful to businesses as they need to keep money coming in. I believe that it’s a problem for many other freelancers and SMEs too in the creative industry and beyond. Something needs to be done about the problem and I am pleased that we are partnering with Incomeing who are helping people get paid for the work they do, on time.

OMB Stories: Jack Hall

@JackHally

So I’m ‘the yellow guy’, the one who loves a troy deeney gif.

I studied design at the London College of Communication, followed by Southampton Solent University. Probably not the best student, was having too much of a good time for the most part! But I worked hard and took on a lot of unpaid positions to ‘gain experience’ and finally land a proper industry role.

I’ve been working as a senior graphic designer at a B2B marketing agency for the last 7 years, working on projects for some of the world’s biggest technology companies, as well as clients in healthcare, leisure, and sport. Before that I worked as an in-house designer for a nightclub and bar chain, as well as various other jobs including call centres and warehouses!

The thing is, working in an agency you are obviously bound to working on the same projects and clients the majority of the time. OMB unties the shackles of my B2B world, allowing me to create ads for companies/causes that I would never ever go anywhere near otherwise. It is also very satisfying to be able to raise awareness for so many great causes through OMB, such campaigns as ‘Plant the seed’ for Ecologi and others for the WWF or the NHS. On top of this, just by entering OMB as much as possible, I have been able to build up a portfolio of great ads that are really removed from B2B tech, and help showcase more of what I am capable of than I would ever have been able to show through just my 9–5 work.

OMB came into my daily life about 3 years ago, when a copywriter at work showed me he’d won something on twitter… Curiously I checked it out, and since then it has not only  become an addiction, but also a real source of pride and inspiration for me. Proudly, I am a part of the OMB board, and strive to help out as much as I can, with the aim of helping grow our community, and supporting as many creatives as possible along the way. I even signed up as a mentor through the father Critmas campaign, and really enjoyed meeting and supporting my matched creative!

The Community as a whole are without a doubt the most supportive, creative and talented community on twitter. I could go on about the amazing Ombles forever and a day and it will be nothing that has never been said before.

OMB has given me so much, on so many levels, that I cannot really express how deeply passionate I am about it. It may sound a little overkill to anyone who is new to OMB or has not been involved before, but having been through hell and questioned every aspect of my own life, be that my mental health, my job, my relationships, and my goals; I can honestly say that the people I have bonded with through OMB have made such a difference.

One example being, that during some of the darkest days of my life, during which I lost my father to a prolonged cancer battle, followed by my grandmother just a few weeks later, just having something to focus on for ‘a minute’ a day was a release and a distraction that, when I look back, really helped get me through them. Being supported and inspired by like-minded, creative, brilliant individuals every day is something you can’t put a price on.

Too often in the industry people try and knock others down, whether for their own gain or not. I think this is a nationwide issue that is found in all walks of life, in all industries and sectors. It’s a part of our culture I really cannot abide. Anyone who follows me knows I am a huge socialist, and thoroughly believe we should be building each other up and not bringing each other down, and that is something I think the OMB community is outstanding at.

Fortunately, I have also won some incredible prize briefs, for companies like KFC, Papa Johns and Ecologi to name a few. It really is something special to gain recognition for creative ideas when sometimes it can feel like recognition in real life is hard to come by.

Jacket Potato_OMB_v1 copy.jpg

As creatives, we can all sometimes suffer from imposter syndrome, and over-think, and worry and burnout. IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US! But the best remedy? Submit an OMB… engage with others, you’ll feel refreshed quicker than you realise.

Another highlight was attending an OMBLIVE event, to then find out I had been named as the Newcomer of the year, a total surprise and a really humbling experience. Also, plucking up the courage to take on the Live OMB tournament and being a semi-finalist was so much fun! It was also great to get to see some of the faces behind the twitter profiles in person, and my trophy is proudly on display on the shelf as a reminder that even on days where I do not feel an ounce of creativity exists in me, I can do it – We all can, especially when we support each other in the trademark OMB way.

OMB has revived my passion for thinking creatively, given me confidence in my own abilities, and renewed optimism for the future.

Would I recommend OMB?

DO IT. It only takes a minute, right?

OMB Stories: Julia Godridge

There is always going to be someone better than you…

I remember clicking the tweet button on my first entry to One Minute Briefs. It was nerve-wracking putting my idea out there into the world. Was it good enough? What would people think of me? But I didn’t need to be worried. I got a couple of likes and some lovely welcoming messages from the ombles. And from there I was hooked…

It’s taken a lot for me to put my ideas out there. Back when I was at university studying graphic design I always thought my ideas weren’t good enough. There was always someone who was better than me and I found it tougher as each year passed. I started keeping any ideas to myself and didn’t ask for help when it was there. I was overwhelmed. I was surrounded by really talented people and didn’t know how I was going to survive in that industry. I got my degree but left university having fallen out of love with design.

I took a full-time job at an opticians and stayed for four years. I needed that time to figure out what I wanted to do. In the evenings I did a couple of photography and web design courses and worked at a college in the marketing department on my day off.

As I was enjoying being creative again I found an opportunity at a charity, which gave me chance to use my design skills and knowledge. I joined the communications team, where I am currently the editor of the magazine and create marketing materials as well as develop the website. It was there I was introduced to One Minute Briefs by my manager, John. He knew of my creative background and encouraged me to get involved. Not only has it helped gain my confidence, it has had a positive affect at work too – I freely share ideas in discussions and the daily training means I come up with ideas quicker. Most importantly, it has made me fall back in love with design again.

My first most memorable win was winning the Egg Cup brief. I got 12 likes for a quick sketch and was so eggcited (sorry!) The idea I did for Halloween Sweets is my most memorable win to date. I got a lot of likes and some great feedback. More recently, I won some shoes for the Mahabis prize brief with a quick mock up of my idea. Each win I still get that excited feeling as if it was my first. Sometimes I think I have a good idea and it gets hardly any engagement. I’ve learnt a lot from that too and instead of getting down about it anymore, I tell myself I can just try again tomorrow.

The ombles community is the most welcoming community on Twitter I have ever come across. It’s the only reason I have Twitter! Everyone is so supportive of each other and encouraging. My first OMB Live back in 2018 was a real eye-opener. An event which brought all the ombles together was amazing and such great fun. I could put faces to Twitter handles and found ombles are just as nice in real life as they are behind the screen. I can’t wait to go to more events like this in the future.

I know now that there is always someone going to be better than me. There is always going to be someone better than you. But rather than hiding away from it, I’m now embracing it. Anyone can have a great idea, you don’t have to be in the industry, which is why I love One Minute Briefs so much. There’s no judgement, no hierarchy, just real people who want to share their idea with the world.

Love to all the ombles. Thank you for being you and inspiring me every day.

One Minute Brief of the Day:

Create cards/posters with @thortful for @Article25 to celebrate the themes: New Babies, Teachers or New Home & show how humanitarian design and architecture can make a meaningful difference to communities.

Tweet your entries to @OneMinuteBriefs @Article25 & @thortful with the hashtag #PositiveNotes

Remember to include your twitter handle in the corner of your entries.

Prizes:

  • £100 cash

  • A year's supply of cards!

  • …plus have your design exclusively sold on thortful to raise funds for Article 25.

    About:

This summer thortful are working with Humanitarian Architecture charity Article 25, hosting a greeting card design competition we’re calling #PositiveNotes. The charity specialise in the design and build of new homes, schools and hospitals, so your cards should be full of positivity, celebrating one of the following themes: New Babies, Teachers or New Home.

Maybe you’ll design a 'New Home' card to mirror the 700 new hurricane-proof homes being rebuilt in Dominica. Maybe a ‘New Baby Girl/Boy' congrats card to reflect Article 25’s building of healthcare facilities – they’re currently creating a full healthcare facility on the island of Montserrat, needed to replace temporary ones in use since a devastating volcanic eruption in the late 90s. Or perhaps you want to wish 'Best of Luck in your New School' to a student attending the newly-built college in Niamey, Niger, where a lack of access to education means schooling lasts on average just 3.5 years.

Since inception in 2004, Article 25 have proudly been part of the arts and design industry in the UK (as well as being an impactful international development charity), and they are supported by the arts world, including such luminaries as Sir Antony Gormley OBE, Sir Paul Smith CH CBE RD, Grayson Perry CBE RA, Banksy, Kaws, Sir David Adjaye & Kengo Kuma, Lord Norman Foster OM, RA. They aim to #MakeDesignMatter, and are happy to prove to the world that humanitarian design and architecture can make a meaningful difference to communities for the long-term.

One Minute Brief of the Day: Create posters to promote @TheGrandTour's #LochDown Special

Today’s brief is a fun one in response to the Grand Tour’s #LochDown challenge you can see in their tweet below…

We are huge fans of the show and we even run our own parody instagram feed called The Bland Tour featuring mundane cars! Give it a follow!

We had a go at the film promo challenge ourselves and shared it across our channels on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and Twitter!! Would really appreciate the OMBLES showing those links some love with some Likes, RTs and shares to spread the word!

And, because we’ve had such fun and seen some people have produced posters via the hashtag, we thought that it would be great to get the OMBLES to have a go at the promo challenge in OMB-poster-style!!!

All the posters need to include are:

  • Something with wheels.

  • Something vaguely Scottish

Here’s the film we created below, me and James got the old lap car (aka my car), fitted new wheels, plates and modified it with a big booming pair of #JagPipes!

And, I wore a kilt for the first time ever. I am half Scottish after all!

Tweet your entries to @OneMinuteBriefs & @TheGrandTour with the hashtag #LockDown

You could also mention @JeremyClarkson, @RichardHammond & @MrJamesMay in your tweets too!

Remember to include your Twitter handle on the corner of your entries!!

About #LochDown:

Did you wonder what this trio were up to during the pandemic? Well, they took some classic American cars and went on a grand tour adventure through the Scottish coastal roads. There are overheated engines, shouting, plenty of tea, and a whole load of classic car chaos.

The Grand Tour Presents:

Lochdown coming to Prime Video on the 30th July.

About:

  • King of Shaves is the world's first shaving brand to introduce a 'Lifetime Use Refill' rather than 'Buy, Use, Dispose' into the market.

  • Better for the planet, Better for your pocket. Clean shave, clear conscience!

  • Cost of shaving with refills vs single use tubes is cheaper.

  • We now need to get consumers aware of, and to buy into this 'refillable mindset', right now they continue to buy 'single use' plastic in the (mistaken belief) that plastic is recycled, when in fact 70-90% ends up in Landfill.

  • Clear point of difference from primary competitors

  • From a consumer POV, we not only 'shave' the planet we 'save' money too.

About King of Shaves :

Created in 1993 in Will King’s kitchen, King of Shaves is a British company that is now firmly established as a leading challenger brand in the UK. Following redundancy and after suffering for years from razor irritation when using conventional shaving foams and gels, Will experimented with blends of essential oils and eventually created his first product – King of Shaves Original Shaving Oil – that was to become the bedrock of the company.

Will hand-filled the first 10,000 bottles over the kitchen sink (it took two weeks) and in 1993, got the product listed by Harrods and Boots the Chemist in the UK.

King of Shaves was born!

Our range of advanced high performance shaving, skin and beard care products are available in the UK from Amazon, Boots, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Superdrug and Waitrose as well as direct from our online shop. King of Shaves is also available in the USA as well as in several other countries including Australia and New Zealand.

We have introduced refillable packaging as part of our commitment to reducing the use of plastic in our range, our products are not tested on animals and our entire shaving and skincare range is suitable for vegans.

We were astounded that there wasn’t a better way to shop, that took less time, cost less money and had far less impact on the environment… and so we built it.

With three children of his own, our CEO and founder, bored and disillusioned by the bright lights of the city, craved an alternative and assembled a team with one sole purpose: to rid the world of boring shopping. And to try to help the environment. With two purposes… To rid the world of boring shopping, help the environment, make lives easier and to empower our…

No wait… maybe just with one purpose:

To Bother… so you don’t have to.

OMB Stories: Ze Anwar

I found one minute briefs five years ago by chance, I was at quite a low point in my life, and I was recovering from a suicide attempt. One minute briefs were running a brief to get the NHS Choir to number one, and I thought this is a great medium to channel my energy into.

sketch-1621800662753 (1).png

The NHS has been important in my life, as it gave me a career, when I couldn't get into the creative industry because of the colour of my skin and sound of my name year ago. Maybe that's why I use the handle zedtrafficker, as I want to able to traffick without being judged on the colour of my skin or my name.

20210523_210238.jpg

From the moment I first submitted my first OMB, I was hooked. I have been entering everyday and I have seen my creativity get better and better.

Which I am seeing the rewards for, such as my campaign for WWF, that got over half a billion views world wide. It was a simple idea, to highlight the extinction on of animals on earth, by removing the animal from brand emblems and logos. Something simple as this could only be created in one minute briefs, as I take literally as a one minute brief .

I would recommend one minute briefs to anyone who wants to be creative, I have always advocated that even though you have finished education, you must always train. The greatest athletes train everyday, to condition their muscles to react in a split second. The brain is also a muscle...

One thing that is a great with OMB is the community, plenty of times when I have been down and low, ombles have reached out to me. I have made many great friends or should I say brothers and sisters with one minute briefs.

DSC_1055.JPG

I would like to thank Nick, who has created this great and diverse community. If it wasn't for OMB and Nick I may not be here today, as truly creativity saved my life. I have always believed in my talent, but I was never given the chance.

_20210523_210844.JPG

But it's thanks to Nick, who has believed in not just mine but everyone's work. Nick believed my ideas for WWF and (my favourite and most emotional OMB) the Isabella campaign. It has shown me that my creativity can be amazing, and all it took was someone to believe in me.

sketch-1621799540672.jpg

The WWF campaign is up for a Cannes Lions this year, and I am not really a awards person, as prior to OMB awards and my Chipshop award, all I ever won was a box of ludo and snakes and ladders.

I have campaigned hard for a job ever since the advertising industry felt sorry for being racist for so long after the George Flloyd incident. I was promised many opportunities with some very big agencies, but due to Covid, recruitment is frozen. Thanks to One minute briefs I landed a creative role with intent health, just recently. And I am enjoying the challenge very much.

I am looking forward to the future, as I feel I have another few gears to go up in creativity wisely, and I strongly feel that I will make change with my work.

Someone once asked me "why am I still in the industry that never wanted me....."

My answer was simple.... "revenge".

Love Zed

PS - I would like to thank all the ombles for all thier love and support. You are a talented bunch!

Coffee and Irish whiskey are no strangers in the glass, but we had a feeling there was more to this story. And so began the search for a fresh new take on this classic combination. The result?

Jameson Cold Brew.

Jameson smoothness meets cold brew coffee richness, made with 100% Arabica beans sourced from Brazil and Colombia, for notes of toasted oak and dark chocolate.

Perfect over ice, or mixed with tonic and a wedge of orange, and always shared amongst friends.

The real payoff - it’s the best of both worlds, bottled.

Have fun and get creative with your entries, we want them to make a splash - but try to steer away from anything political or controversial if you can!

Feel free to create an OOH billboard, a poster, a poem, a social ad, a scribble on the back of your hand – however the inspiration strikes, we can’t wait to see your ideas.

About:

We’ll be focusing on a range of strategies to reduce our carbon output as much as possible, including: using 100% zero carbon grid electricity and natural gas, introducing energy efficiency programmes, producing our own solar power, introducing more hydrogen and electric vehicles into our large vehicle fleet, and making all company cars electric.

We’ll also look to store as much carbon as possible, through nature based solutions such as: sustainable tree planting, peatland restoration and encouraging our tenant farmers to manage the land in a sustainable way.

OMB Stories: Aleenah Alam

Hey everyone! I'm Aleenah (Aleenah_14 on Twitter) and I look after the OMB Instagram page!

I first got into OMBs back when I was in college. I was doing Creative Media, things like graphic design, video production and animation, and came across a tweet by One Minute Briefs - something about women in design. I was interested and from there, I started to take part. It's great for building up a portfolio and you meet a load of nice people and friends.

With the help of One Minute Briefs in my portfolio, I was able to get a place at my first choice university, doing graphic design. By then, I was probably about a year into doing OMBs and had also taken part in the Merry Critmas advert - which was A LOT of fun to film and something great to show universities. I truly believe that One Minute Briefs helped me to get a place at university and that that was the thing that placed me above other candidates.

Design aside, as I mentioned that One Minute Briefs allowed me to network, I have met some great people. Back in 2019, I had my first proper pet - two tiny dwarf hamsters. Unfortunately, one of them did die and I was absolutely devasted. I wanted a way to still remember her so I decided on a pet portrait and through OMB, I was able to find John, who I then commissioned to make a portrait of my hamster and it was absolutely beautiful!

I also really love having my work put out there, especially when you have a prize brief say with The Drum, and then your work gets put on their website. It's pretty cool to be able to say that your work's been published on a big platform.

I guess my top two most favourite OMBs that I've made were 1) The Young Life Writers brief and 2) the #WeAreOne brief. The Young Writers brief was the first prize that I won and I still remember seeing the tweet when I was out to a family function (when you could still go out and have big meetups 🤣🤣) and then my parents told everyone as they were so proud! The #WeAreOne one was also great because I loved getting everyone's photos to add to it and it just made me feel connected to the community more!

Overall, this is such a fantastic and supportive place and the (prize) briefs are incredible: I mean who doesn't want to win a lump of cash? I love telling everyone about OMB and even mentioned it when I recorded for a friend's podcast (check my episode out on @PiratedMaterial on Twitter). And don't forget to send your entries to Instagram as well so I can share them!

OMB Stories: Tom Wilding

I've been working as a graphic designer for 15 years now, in agency, in-house and freelance settings. April 2020 saw me working as a Senior Designer in a job that often felt like a bit of a factory assembly line, as well as dealing with the recent introduction of something called the 'Coronavirus Pandemic Lockdown', (I prefer 'Ongoing Viral Bastard'.) Spending more time in my day on video calls than flexing my creativity muscles, my good friend Gary (@PittAlunG) put me on to OMB and some of the briefs he'd been working on there.

EZGLITCH_IMG_20201019_210011-1200x.jpg

They were GREAT. Interesting briefs with real brands and organisations that were actually looking to action real change, alongside fun briefs like 'Advertise Gazebos' that were just pure creativity. The people seemed cool too. A bit mad, but cool.

I took a punt. I think my first brief was advertising One Minute Wonders. Basically OMB itself...which I had no idea about. Imposter syndrome swelled, I'm pretty sure I forgot how to use Photoshop for about 20 minutes, but I eventually got there with an entry.

I got a couple of likes, a few 'welcomes' and that big OMB Retweet...and I was hooked. Briefs on Lawnmowers, Toe Rings and International Dance Day followed. I got a few more likes, a few nice comments and a couple more retweets. I started chatting to more and more of the OMBLES, and they were all lovely and really encouraging. An entry for the NHS got shared by one of their social media accounts, which even after 15 years in the industry was a big thrill. I put half of my lunch hour aside every day to work on that day's brief, and most of the time it was the highlight of my day. I even picked up a few shortlists and wins.

In May 2020 I got my first big win - promoting the awesome Maisie Catt and her incredible fundraising efforts. The prize was a thankyou video from the girl herself, which was a huge boost and actually made me a tiny bit emotional, (which when I'm essentially a robot 80% of the time is saying something.) A few weeks later I volunteered to join the OMB Board, having more involvement with briefs and helping welcome and support new people - one of my favourite parts of OMB now. As time has gone on, I've started working more and more on my copy skills, something I always struggled with previously.

Redundancy hit in July 2020, following a pretty harsh and very messy consultation period. I felt angry, cheated and worried about where I'd be able to get money from during a pandemic. Nobody would buy one of my kidneys, (not that I really asked around...much...) but I knew from OMB that whatever my old job had made me believe, my work and ideas WERE good enough for some pretty big companies. I took the plunge and went freelance in September 2020, and have been doing so ever since.

Though working for myself has meant that I can't always enter OMB every day, when I do put something together I try to go BIG! I make an effort to stay involved with the Board as much as possible, as well as liking, retweeting and commenting on amazing entries that take my eye. I try to support newbies and those looking for job opportunities as much as possible, as I know how horrible it is to be in that position. Getting a win or shortlist for an OMB you've put together is a huge boost, but getting tweets from other OMBLES saying they love your work is a massive confidence boost and helps stave off that all-encompassing imposter syndrome.

Ultimately, OMB is a community that goes beyond creating amazing ads - it's about encouraging and supporting people and helping them develop - whether that's their work, their confidence or their portfolios. I'm not 100% I would have gotten through the last year without it to be honest!
